Take Courses in the Summer

This year make plans to Take Control of your Summer!  There are over 400 summer courses to choose from.  So, whether you're looking to earn your degree faster, explore a new language, or complete a course prerequisite you are sure to find a summer course to meet your needs.  Our summer semester offers you flexibility by providing courses that vary in length and start dates.

Visiting Students

You attend another college or university but wish to enroll in summer classes at NKU.  You can!  As a visiting student, you are offered the convenience and flexibility of taking NKU courses and having the credits transferred back to your home university.  

Steps to enroll in summer classes:

  • Search our schedule of classes to learn which courses are available during this summer semester
  • Apply online as a non-degree visiting student and submit a $25 non-refundable application fee

As a visiting student you should know:
    • You are responsible for determining if the courses taken at NKU will transfer to your home institution.  Work with your academic advisor or transfer counselor at your home institution to learn how the NKU courses will transfer.
    • Financial aid is not available to non-degree seeking students and visiting students.
    • Your transcripts will not be requested during the application process to NKU, but should you need a specific course or courses to satisfy a prerequisite for the NKU course you will be taking, you will need to be prepared to provide an official transcript to the appropriate academic department chair.

Current NKU Students

This is the last chance to take advantage of 2010-11 tuition rates.   Get ahead, catch up, or stay on pace to graduate. 

Steps to enroll in summer classes:   Meet with your academic advisor and schedule your class online via myNKU.

New Students

Get ahead by taking summer courses.  This summer focus on one or two courses in small classes that average 24 students.  Engage in interactive learning in face-to-face classes or online courses. 

Steps to enroll in summer classes:  Apply for summer 2011 admission as a freshman or transfer student and submit the necessary credentials prior to the start of classes.

           Intersession:  May 9 - May 28
           Full Session:  May 9 - August 6
            Five Weeks:  May 31 - July 2
          Eight Weeks:  May 31 - July 23
             Six Weeks:  June 6 - July 16
Second Five Weeks:  July 5 - August 6
PACE Seven Weeks: May 9 - June 25
PACE Seven Weeks (2nd): June 27 - August 13
